There is much to see and do around and about Glencairn Cottage

  • Golf-Aberdeenshire has over 50 golf courses, Glencairn Cottage is in a perfect location for exploring the fairways and greens that Scotland has to offer. Information about the many courses in scotland is avaliable Here.
  • Walking-The Cottage is in the perfect location for walkers, it is near to the Cairngorm mountains and the Coreen Hills, Tap 'o' Noth and Bennachie are two hills very close to the cottage. Information about walking in aberdeenshire is availiable Here.
  • Fishing-The many rivers and lakes of Scotland offer a great oppertunity for those who want to catch some scottish fish! Information about fishing in Aberdeenshire is available Here
  • Ski-ing and Snowboarding-The nearby Glenshee and Lecht Ski centres are excellent places for skiers and snowboarders alike offering many top class runs for beginners through to experts, they also offer a range of activities during summertime, these include mountain biking and quad-biking.
  • Whisky Trail-Glencairn Cottage is very near to the excellent Whisky Trail, a must for whisky enthusiasts, the nearest distillery to Glencairn Cottage is Ardmore distillery at Kennethmont.
  • Wildlife-There is an abundance of spectacular wildlife to be seen around Glencairn Cottage. The Moray Coast offers an excellent oppertunity for spotting whales, dolphins and seabirds. The Perigrine watch centre near Huntly gives the rare oppurtunity of spotting a perigrine falcon in the wild. More information on the local wildlife can be found Here
  • Cultural Heritage-There are many Castles and historic properties in the area, in fact Aberdeenshire offers a large selection of Scottish castles. There is a Castle Trail which is a must for those who want to see a good selection of the castles in the area. More information can be found Here.
  • Attractions- Alford is just 10 miles from Glencairn and here you will find a wide variety of shops and Inns. Alford Transport museum is well worth a visit as is Haughton Country Park.
  • Cairngorms National Park- The cottage lies just outside the National Park, the largest National Park in the UK and 45 minutes from Royal Deeside, home to Balmoral Castle the highland retreat of the British Royal Family.
